Deep in rural Andalusia yet within reach of airports
La Paz is in the Poniente Granadino - western Granada province: to the south and west lie the mountains and beyond them the Mediterranean; to the east is the fertile Vega - plain - of Granada and to the north lie farming country and more mountains.

Ancient Loja, beloved of the Moors who lived here over 600 years ago, is just a few miles away and for everyday shopping Huétor Tájar, a renowned asparagus and artichoke growing centre is just down the road. Granada, and its Alhambra Palace, is a short drive away and it is also possible to visit Antequera, Malaga, Cordoba or even Seville if you enjoy sightseeing.

  • For countryside lovers this beautiful area is rich in flowers and wildlife and the long distance walking trail through Andalusia lies though the mountains to the south.
  • If archaeology and history excite you, there are unspoiled prehistoric and later sites to explore in the hills around here.
  • The winter ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada lie the other side of Granada; in summer this is great walking country! … or of course you could just relax in the sun, read a book, enjoy a barbecue and a glass of wine, and chill out!
